Description/Job Summary

The Bricklayer/Mason helps build sidewalks, streets, businesses, laying a solid foundation for each. This position cuts and sizes bricks and related materials to construct everything from chimneys to fireplaces to walls to entire buildings. The Bricklayer/Mason will follow blueprints and directions, cutting bricks and in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.


  • Read blueprints or drawings to calculate materials needed
  • Lay out patterns, forms, or foundations according to plans
  • Build and repair walls, floors, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, and other structures
  • Forming, Pouring, leveling, and finishing concrete
  • Use of stone veneer, natural stone, brick and concrete block, and other masonry
  • Break or cut materials to required size
  • Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto a slab or foundation
  • Clean excess mortar with trowels and other hand tools
  • Pointing, cleaning, and caulking on older structures on which mortar has come loose
  • Construct corners with a corner pole or by building a corner pyramid
  • Align structure vertically and horizontally
  • Construct/ Assemble scaffolding to safe construction standards

Required Experience

This position requires one (1) year of experience in the construction industry.  Experienced in working with Brick, Concrete blocks, Concrete, and Natural or manmade stone to build walls, walkways, fences, and other masonry structures.


This position may require some night and/or weekend work.
