Description/Job Summary

Support of Superintendent
  • Collect subcontractor manpower reports
  • Fill out daily reports
  • Handle deliveries
  • Solve problems – If Senior Field Engineer cannot solve, then present to superintendent

Supervise a Specific Part of the Project
  • Must be able to coordinate subcontractor with help from the superintendent
  • Must be able to direct Grunley manpower
  • Must be able to read, understand and communicate information from construction drawings and specifications
  • Perform safety meetings
  • Monitor project for unsafe conditions
  • Give direction to correct unsafe condition
  • Coordinate work with subcontractors
  • Coordinate Grunley work with schedule

  • Maintain tools

Inventory to:
  • Responsible for production of tradesmen
  • Notify supervisor of need to increase or decrease work force
  • Track manpower time
  • Submit time each day to supervisor
  • Monitor site for unsafe conditions
  • Notify supervisor of unsafe conditions
  • Report all accidents to supervisor immediately
  • Give toolbox talks if requested
  • Plan for material needed to perform a task
  • Store material securely and safely
  • Maintain tools
  • Notify a supervisor if repairs are needed
  • Store tools – secure, lock up (i.e. tool room or gang box)
  • Inventory tools – maintain list
  • Notify a supervisor of missing tools
  • Attend as assigned all Grunley in-house and external training programs

Required Skills

The Senior Field Engineer must be able to direct tradesman to complete a task and interact with tradesman and management of all levels.  The Senior Field Engineer must be capable of learning new technical and non-technical information and applying it in the field in relatively short time periods. 

Required Education

The Senior Field Engineer must have an acceptable combination of formal education at the post-secondary level, college degree(s) in engineering, construction management, or business; vocational training, and/or field construction experience.
