Description/Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the general ledger and assists in monthly financial reporting. This position reports directly to the Senior Accountant, and indirectly to the Controller.


  • Reconcile the various companies’ bank accounts.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account analyses.
  • Prepare spreadsheets to track insurance and bond payments.
  • Create Timberline reports or Excel spreadsheets to analyze accounts.
  • Prepare and write journal entries and cash receipt entries.
  • Track and account for all monthly owner requisitions and subcontractor payments into Timberline.
  • Prepare and analyze the project’s financial schedules.
  • Reconcile Owner Change Orders, Back charges and Subcontractor Change Orders.
  • Prepare The Grunley Companies' Financial Statements.
  • Assist in the annual audit of Grunley’s Consolidated Financial Statements with the independent auditors.
  • File/scan any related documentation.

Required Skills

Must have knowledge of:
  • generally accepted accounting principles
  • accounting disciplines of general ledger
  • subsidiary ledgers-accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and job cost

Preferred Skills

  • Timberline software experience

Required Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of financial accounting experience is required. 

Preferred Experience

Construction accounting or auditing experience

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
